The DVD photo slideshow creating software application DVD PixPlay provides an answer to the question “what should I do with all these pictures?” Say you have some great pics from your holiday abroad and don’t know what to do with them. With the help of the DVD PixPlay application you can take said pictures and use them to create a stunning photo slideshow. Then you can use the application to burn the slideshow into a disc and play that disc on your DVD player.

The DVD PixPlay installation file is 8.4MB in size. The application can be installed on Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, ME, and 98. A simple setup wizard will show up when you run the 8.4MB file and it will quickly take you through the installation process.

By default, the “Welcome to DVD PixPlay” dialog box is presented every time you launch the application. On it you have links for creating a new slideshow project, opening a recent slideshow project, and viewing the DVD PixPlay tutorial file. If you don’t want to see the “Welcome to DVD PixPlay” window, uncheck the “Always show on startup” box from the bottom left hand corner. And speaking about things you might want to uncheck, you might also want to uncheck the “Show Tip of the Day” box. The application will display tips as you’re using it; to stop getting them, you must uncheck the aforementioned box.

The better part of the interface is taken up by the Slideshow Frames pane that lists the images you selected to be turned into a slideshow. At the top you have buttons for adding more photos, adding a title frame, adding text to images, and more. To the right you have a pane that displays slideshow details and properties.

To create a new slideshow you can use the buttons on the application’s interface, or you can make things even easier by using the New Slideshow Project Wizard. The wizard will ask you to pick a name for your project, select a location where it will be saved, add images from your computer or import them from your camera/scanner, configure the default display time, edit the title page, select the transition effects you want to use, select the music that will play in the background as the slideshow runs, and the last step of the wizard will ask you if you want to further edit the project or go straight to burning it to a CD or DVD disc. Choose to further edit the project and you’ll be able to add text to images, choose custom motion effects, and change the transition effects. To see what you’ve come up with, click on the Preview button; when you’re done, click on the Burn Disk button.

DVD PixPlay is only free to try. The trial version is limited to 100 photos per slideshow, comes with a limited amount of export options, puts a watermark on the output, and is free to use for 45 days.

Create beautiful slideshows for a variety of occasions with the powerful yet easy to use application DVD PixPlay.

Pros

DVD PixPlay works with numerous Windows editions. There’s a very handy “Welcome to DVD PixPlay” prompt and another very handy New Slideshow Project Wizard. Create slideshows using your pictures, videos, and music. There are numerous transition and motion effects to choose from. Add and edit the title frame, add text to images. Preview your work before burning it. You can also share slideshows on YouTube or Facebook.

Cons

The trial is free to use for 45 days, puts a watermark on the output, and limits the slideshow to 100 pictures.
